💫 Can I be real with you? When I was younger, maybe around elementary and middle school, I always saw the world as this strict playground where you had to abide by certain rules. Each person on the playground had a job, and if you didn’t do your job then you’d be punished either by the legal system or by society. One of the main roles of every man was to be strong, provide for the family, and protect.
💫As I got older I realized that nowhere on their agenda was the phrase “Love yourself”. We never took the time out to sit down and appreciate ourselves, and there weren’t many older men who took out the time to guide us; I guess it was sort of a “figure it out on your own” type of thing. Because the old heads always had this “work hard and be manly and stern” mindset, it was passed down to their sons, who passed it down their sons, you see the cycle? Nowhere in this long generation of men did they promote self-Love. Why not?
💫 1. We don’t know how!
💫 2. We’re afraid of being called soft!
It’s easy for us to tell a woman we love her, it’s easy for us to tell our kids we love them, but it’s almost like a rare thing to hear a man say he loves himself! We don’t know where to begin! And once we do start getting comfortable, society BEATS US! We’re told to “suck it up, be a man, get over it, and let it go”. Being told all this only makes us cold hearted bricks with no emotion. As a man, sometimes I feel like my only purpose in life is to fix problems. It’s like we can’t catch a break. The pressures of everyday life makes us hate the world and ourselves as well.
💫 Listen to me, bro. Being a man doesn’t mean you’re not special in God’s eyes. He designed you to be the head of the relationship and the house. Loving yourself, asking for help, and expressing your feelings doesn’t make you a wuss, it makes you a man. It shows that you’re strong enough to put your pride aside and stop letting society control your emotions. Just because God gave you responsibility, that doesn’t mean He doesn’t want you to appreciate yourself! Sometimes we may not feel confident or good enough, but I promise you, a good man is just as much a prize as a good woman!
Scripture of the day✊🏽
💫 1 Corinthians 16:13: Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
